It’s the deal of the year. MGM Racing is becoming Bonovo action by MGM Racing. The team owner is Jürgen Röder, and the team manager is Michael Galinski. A world-class lineup of riders will compete for the new team in the IDM, the Superbike World Championship, and the Sidecar World Championship in 2020.

In 2020, the team is breaking new ground: Jonas Folger (GER) will compete in the IDM Superbike 1000 and select World Superbike races. Max Weihe (GER) remains in the IDM Superbike 1000. Milan Merckelbagh (NED) is fighting for the title in the IDM Supersport 600.

In addition, Röder and Galinski have signed the world’s top sidecar riders: Tim Reeves (GB) and Kevin Rousseau (FRA), Bennie Streuer (NL) and Ilse de Haas (NL), as well as Josef Sattler (D) and Jeroen Remmé (NL) will compete in the IDM and World Championship next year under the Bonovo action by MGM Racing banner.

Jonas Folger, who has worked closely with Yamaha for many years, is returning to his roots in the IDM as a multiple Grand Prix winner and has big plans: to win the IDM Superbike 1000 and pave his way into the Superbike World Championship for 2021. The Bavarian says: “After the last few months and weeks have been a bit turbulent for me, I’ve decided, after careful consideration, to race in the IDM with Michael Galinski. I think this is a good fresh start for me and, at the same time, an interesting change of scenery. I want to start small again, build confidence, gain more positive experience, and embark on a new path that will ultimately lead to the Superbike World Championship. I’m already familiar with the R1, even though the Superbike IDM version will be a bit different from the bike I’ve been riding so far.”

Without sponsors, nothing gets done. Behind the newly formed Team Bonovo action by MGM Racing is the Berlin-based travel agency “Bonovo Tours,” formerly known as “Berlin Express,” whose logo can be seen on the leather suit and fairing of eight-time Sidecar World Champion Tim Reeves.
