The podium was the same as after the first race. Winner Max Enderlein (Freudenberg WorldSSP Team) stood between second-place finisher Marc Buchner (Buchner Motorsport) and third-place finisher Martin Vugrinec (UNIOR Racing Team). Enderlein has thus moved another step closer to his goal of defending his title. Theoretically, he could be crowned the new champion as early as the next race in Assen. But the rider from Hohenstein-Ernstthal isn’t thinking about that just yet. He has mixed feelings about the TT Circuit. A year ago, Enderlein crashed there during free practice and broke his collarbone. The 22-year-old also had a bad experience there while riding his motocross bike.
But Enderlein is tough as nails. Yesterday, ahead of the rain-soaked second qualifying session for the IDM Supersport 600, he raced to Leipzig to join his employer, Porsche, to prepare for a company event. One day later—that is, today—he secured a one-two finish for himself and his team on the Yamaha YZF-R6.
"Spider" Martin Vugrinec moved up in the overall standings thanks to his two third-place finishes over the weekend. He overtook Tom Toparis and is now in second place.
Luca Grünwald (Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex) continues to move up the ranks as well. Despite his late entry into the IDM, he is already on par with his teammate Gabriel Noderer (Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing Team). After finishing fifth in the first race, Grünwald took fourth place in the second race.
In the DMSB Superstock 600 Cup, Milan Merckelbagh emerged as the winner after both races. The Dutch rider has been on a roll since joining MGM Performance Racing. Paul Fröde (ADAC Sachsen e.V.), who drives the only Honda in the entire field, finished second for the first time and was grinning from ear to ear. Stefan Ströhlein (Neumann Racing), who leads the overall standings with 186 points ahead of Jan Schmidt (26 points), crossed the finish line in third place.
