The first few meters are behind us. The IDM Superbike 1000 has kicked off a spectacular high-octane show at the Nürburgring. Germany’s top class in road motorcycle racing is making an appearance this weekend as part of the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix and will be a highlight on race days.
“It’s going better than expected,” says MGM-Yamaha rider Marc Moser after the first free practice session. “They’re really doing their best to make sure we have a clean and safe track, even though the trucks kick up a lot of dust beforehand. It’s a great opportunity for us to be able to race here and bring the IDM to a wider audience. I think it’s great.” At the Nürburgring, numerous volunteers are on hand to smooth out the gravel beds and carry out all the preparations needed to ensure everything runs smoothly. Fifty volunteers alone are assigned to IDM-specific track modifications. Six sweepers are in operation.
All qualifying sessions and both races will be broadcast live on the IDM Facebook channel and on MOTORRAD’s YouTube channel. Host Lukas Gajewski will be reporting from the pit lane, and IDM track announcer Bernd Fulk will be reporting from the press box.
