The outcome wasn’t decided until the final seconds of the first qualifying session. Dutch rider Colin Velthuizen holds provisional pole position in the IDM Supersport 300 (SSP 300) class for the second race weekend of the season. With a time of 1:37.818 minutes, however, the 17-year-old was only 0.12 seconds faster than his compatriot Rick Dunnik on a Yamaha. In the IDM junior class, Ruben Bijman (Yamaha) is the next fast Dutch rider in third place. The three flying Dutchmen were the only riders in the 31-rider field to break the 1:38-minute barrier on the 3.667-kilometer circuit.

Two more fast Kawasaki riders—Belgian Angelo Licciardi and Micky Winkler from Schleiz—follow in the next spots. For defending champion Toni Erhard, it will be a tough battle to reach the front of the pack. The 18-year-old from Schwarzenberg has to settle for sixth place for now on his KTM. On Saturday at 9:30 a.m., the IDM SSP 300 champion—who is racing this season for the successful Freudenberg WorldSSP Academy—still has a chance to improve his starting position for the two races, both of which will be held on Saturday afternoon.
