He wants to race. For Kevin Wahr , quitting is truly out of the question. Especially since he won the final race of the 2018 season at Hockenheim. The 30-year-old from Nagold isn’t giving up on his quest for a second IDM title in the Supersport class. But there are obstacles.

After a rocky start in 2018 with tuner Diego Romero and his subsequent move to the Dutch MVR Racing Team , Kevin Wahr got back on track. At the end of the season, he was just one point shy of third place in the overall standings.

The fire in Wahr is still burning; he wants to win the title for a second time since 2013. It was clear that he would continue with MVR-Racing. But as of today, he is still missing from the IDM rider entry lists for 2019. And the season kicks off at the Lausitzring in three weeks.

Inquiry to MVR Team Owner Mart van Roij. What happened? “My wife is seriously ill and has to undergo chemotherapy,” the Dutchman says candidly. He won’t leave his wife alone during this difficult time. Her next treatment appointment falls exactly on the season opener.

Van Roij wants to allow Kevin Wahr to make guest appearances on the Yamaha, but it won’t be a full season. Wahr respects his boss’s decision, as Van Roij now has other priorities. “I’m not a fan of constantly switching teams. I also don’t feel the need to make any decisions without Mart van Roij,” he says. “But I do plan to compete in the IDM Supersport . I’m still capable of winning. As for the races I won’t be riding for MVR Racing, I haven’t made any other plans yet,” he hints.
