She’s back. Sarah Heide will once again race for Team Suzuki Laux ADAC Sachsen in the IDM Superbike 1000 in 2019. The 30-year-old from Zwickau couldn’t have asked for a better start to her season on the Suzuki GSX-R 1000. Today, on Easter Saturday, Heide won the “1000 km Hockenheim” race as part of the JT Racing Entertainment team alongside Yamaha R1 riders Jörg Teuchert and Nils Ender .
The endurance classic in the Kurpfalz region took place for the 44th time. The traditional kickoff to the motorsports season in Germany began, as always, with a Le Mans-style start. After exactly 219 laps, it was finally all over. JT Racing Entertainment lived up to its name, delivering top-notch entertainment. The team of Teuchert, Ender, and Heide was the first to complete the 1,000 km, further extending their lead over the competition in the final hour and ultimately finishing with five more laps on the clock than the chasing team from MCA Racing.
Jörg Teuchert remains Sarah Heide’s biggest role model to this day. His greatest achievements include Supersport in 2000, as well as two German Superbike titles and two Supersport . He still plays a role as a mentor for Heide. “When I’m in touch with her every now and then, I still try to kick her in the butt,” he explains in his usual candid manner. “I coached her a bit during training in Spain and also gave her some videos so she could study the racing lines. Sarah did a good job today.”
In 2011, Sarah Heide became the first woman to win a race in the IDM Supersport class. In 2017, she moved up to the IDM Superbike 1000 class.
Another group of riders who completed the 1,000 km challenge was spotted at the IDM: Superbike riders Marc Moser, Tim Eby, and Tim Stadtmüller, as well as 600cc Supersport riders Dennis and Marco Lippert and Kevin Wahr.
