Advance ticket sales have begun at www.idm.de – the IDM kicks off its 2019 season in five weeks. The first round of points will be awarded from May 17 to 19, 2019, at the Lausitzring. This means the registration deadline is also drawing closer for riders and teams. However, quite a few riders and teams have already firmly registered for the IDM Superbike 1000, IDM Supersport , and the junior class IDM Supersport . The solo classes are rounded out by the IDM Sidecar. Here is the current status. Registrations for all IDM classes are still open until May 1, 2019, including for guest riders who compete only sporadically and are not listed in our roster.

In the top class, Ilya Mikhalchik will start with the number “1.” The Ukrainian driver from Team alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW is the IDM Superbike 1000-Defending champions. Riders from seven countries are competing in the class: Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, and Ukraine. The race will take place on BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and YamahaThe Superbikes are commercially available 1000cc motorcycles that have been heavily modified for the championship.

It's a full house at the IDM Supersport 600. The field is so tight here because even the drivers of the Superstock 600-class, which has fewer technical freedoms, are also in the mix. Both compete in the same field but are scored separately. In any case, the showdown is between Kawasaki and Yamaha. The Green team is severely outnumbered, but thanks to former World Championship riders like Luca Grünwald, they’re well-staffed. Yamaha rider Ian Dublin from Malaysia has the longest journey.

The IDM Supersport is enjoying increased demand. KTMRacer Toni Erhard aims to defend his title here and use the junior class as a springboard to the World Championship. In this premier class, which also features Kawasaki and Yamaha riders, three women are currently set to compete: German riders Julia Hämmer and Nina Schubrikoff, as well as Mieke Abbink from the Netherlands.

A whopping 22 teams are in the IDM Sidecar already confirmed, including the World Championship pairs Josef Sattler/Uwe Neubert, Markus Schlosser/Marcel Fries, and Peter Kirmeswenger/Jens Lehnertz. According to IGG board member Robert Werth (Interessengemeinschaft Gespannrennen e.V.), the absolute world elite will likely gather for some of the races, as the IDM Sidecar offers sidecar teams the ideal competitive stage between World Championship rounds. The IDM operates at the highest level of competition. There will be a 1000cc class and a class for 600cc sidecars.
