Jan Bühn is back. After spending a season in the Superstock 1000 European Championship, he is making his comeback in the IDM Superbike 1000 in 2019. And the 27-year-old racer from Kronau is bringing another Superbike rider with him: Tim Eby. Both will be riding a BMW S1000 RR for the newly formed EGS Moto Racing Team in 2019. The team name clearly identifies EGS Automatisierungstechnik GmbH, based in Donaueschingen in southern Baden, as the main sponsor.

And who is Tim Eby? He’s from Blumberg and has only been racing motorcycles since 2016, but he immediately finished third in the Rehm 600 Cup. Over the past two years, Eby has switched to 1000cc motorcycles and has once again secured podium finishes. His lap times qualify him to compete in the IDM Superbike 1000.

Jan Bühn is looking forward to the new season with confidence: “Our EGS Moto Racing team is partnering with alpha Racing-Van Zon team boss Werner Daemen. We’re taking over the BMW race bikes, many parts, and the truck from him. We’ll also be working together in the pit.” Bühn and Eby had their first test run over Christmas. “We spent three days in Cartagena and really put in a lot of laps,” reports Bühn. The first IDM test with the full team is scheduled for March and is also set to take place in Spain.

While Jan Bühn aims to finish in the top 3 of the championship in 2019, Tim Eby is keeping his expectations in check for now: “I’m a newcomer; I’m trying to do my best and gain as much experience as possible.”
