The champions were Josef Sattler/Uwe Neubert already decided, yet the second race in the IDM Sidecar an emotional matter. The 33-year-old was visibly moved, and his pregnant wife took some more photos for their personal album.
Finishing second in the race were former champions Bennie Streuer and Gerard Daalhuizen, who will go down in history as the 2018 IDM runners-up. They did, however, win the KNMV championship—the Dutch national championship—which featured one additional race. The new IDM champions, Sattler and Neubert, crossed the finish line in third place.
There's also good news coming from the hospital. The injured sidecar crew Adam Treasure/Brad Gorrie The Australian rider had to be airlifted by helicopter yesterday following a serious crash in the first race. Brad Gorrie has since been discharged from the hospital, while Adam Treasure remains hospitalized. He suffered broken ribs, a broken hand, and burned his foot on the sidecar’s exhaust pipe.
