After the Team Suzuki Alber-Bischoff was forced to sit out the race at the Schleizer Dreieck due to a lack of riders, 21-year-old Jordan Weaving was recently signed on for the IDM round at the Lausitzring. For the Brit, these were his first kilometers on the track and also his first laps on a Suzuki GSX-R 1000. Until now, he had been competing in the Superstock 1000 class of the British Championship. Weaving is therefore very familiar with mixed weather conditions, which initially had a very positive effect at the Lausitzring. He didn’t hold back in dry conditions either. Starting from 13th on the grid with a completely new bike was a solid result.
There were four points up for grabs in the race. To earn them, Weaving had to work hard. He had to start from the pit lane and stage a comeback from the very back of the pack. What had happened? “Right before the start, a hose clamp on the radiator broke,” team manager Evrén Bischoff answered the question. “We quickly replaced it in the pits and topped off the water.” Theoretically, Weaving could have been in contention for sixth place, but as it was, he could only manage 12th. The second race ended prematurely for the Brit after a crash on the second lap.
Overall, however, Bischoff sees a ray of hope on the horizon with his driver. After the race, he planned to decide whether and how they would continue working together. “He’ll stay with us for the rest of the season.”
