IDM Superbike 1000: It’s not working out – Lucy Glöckner’s season ends early

The vertebral fracture she sustained in her crash at the Schleizer Dreieck has had serious consequences for Lucy Glöckner. The Saxon rider from the Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex announced today that her season is over prematurely.

“Just a week ago, I thought I’d be back on the bike at Assen. But unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I won’t be able to race in the first round of the 2019 World Endurance Championship either.” Glöckner had expected a six-week recovery period and was hoping for positive news from the doctors at his last checkup, “but they all strongly advised me against racing. Any strain or jolts would slow down or even worsen the healing process.”

Although it’s hard for her to accept, Lucy Glöckner has come to terms with the situation and is now hoping to make a fresh start next year in good health. The standout female rider in the IDM Superbike 1000 class had secured an eighth-place finish on the ZX-10R at the start of the season, followed by two ninth-place finishes and one tenth-place finish.
