The second IDM Supersport 600 race at the Schleizer Dreieck was full of drama. In the absence of Marc Buchner, who crashed in the first race and, according to initial reports, is recovering from a concussion, Kevin Wahr (mvr-Racing) took the win . Dennis Lippert (T.O.M. Racing powered by myMoto24.de) took a sensational second place . Max Enderlein (Freudenberg World SSP Team), who finished third, was a sore loser.
Enderlein came out of the first lap in the lead. By the end of the third lap, Kevin Wahr had taken the lead, and after a rough patch, the Nagold native rode to victory with his new team, on a new motorcycle, and equipped with the special stage suspension installed in Schleiz. “With this victory, we’ve reaped the rewards of our hard work and gotten what we deserve. They took the win away from me this morning,” Wahr said afterward with unusual candor. “The penalty for my alleged false start was wrong. If I’m supposed to have done something, then I wasn’t the only one.” And in an interview at the podium ceremony, he indirectly asked Max Enderlein how he could say he could have won, even though he finished third. Enderlein had previously made a statement to that effect with a stony expression.
The loss to Dennis Lippert must have been much harder for the Saxon to swallow; Lippert could hardly believe his luck: “Second place. Unbelievable. In my rookie year.” Lippert had overtaken Enderlein at the end of the race and insisted: “No contact, no critical situation.” And he explained: “Study your opponent and then overtake at the right moment. That’s how I was taught.”
