Full points, glorious weather. For Josef Sattler and Uwe Neubert (Sattler Motorsport, Adolf RS1 F1 BMW) had a decent weekend at the Schleizer Dreieck. The team held each other back against the defending champion Bennie Streuer and Gerard Daalhuizen (Team Streuer-Daalhuizen, LCR F1 Suzuki). “But right where we would have been best with the tires, we got stuck,” Sattler said. At one point, the Bavarian drifted off the track. He added appreciatively, “Bennie accelerated out of the corners superbly.” Still, the Dutchman could only manage second place. “That was a tough race. I did everything I could.”

André Kretzer/Björn Bosch ( AKW-Kretzer-Racing, LCR F1 Suzuki) would have preferred to finish higher up than third place, “but I made a mistake at the start. I went too wide, and by then the others were already gone. But the fans—they’re amazing. They cheered us all on.”

Mike Roscher/Anna Burkard (RSC-Racing Roscher-Burkard-Penz13, LCR F1 BMW) provided the most excitement in the sidecar field, which had quickly spread out after the start. The German-Swiss duo fought their way up from sixth place after the first lap to fourth.

Latest update on the serious sidecar accident that occurred during Friday’s free practice. Patrick Baer’s passenger, Roman Gröbner, suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures to his upper body. He is being kept in an induced coma at the hospital to allow his organs to recover. His condition is stable. The 48-year-old Bavarian is not in critical condition. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.
