Today at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, qualifying sessions are underway to determine the best starting positions for the races. The first session in the IDM Superbike class has concluded. Bastien Mackels (Wilbers-BMW) currently leads the standings with a fastest lap of 1:26.244. Ilya Mikhalchik (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) is just behind him. Danny de Boer (MGM Yamaha) is in third place. Fourth-place finisher Dominic Schmitter (HPC Suzuki) is only four hundredths of a second behind the Dutchman. The first and only Honda was ranked ninth, and the sole Kawasaki in 14th place. Lucy Glöckner, the rider on the ZX-10R, had hoped for more. She is under pressure heading into the second qualifying session, which also takes place today.
