The 2018 IDM Season Is All Set

Nothing stands in the way of the new IDM season. All partners have reached an agreement. The Motorsport Working Group of the Industrieverband Motorrad e.V. and Wirtschaftsdienst GmbH of the Deutscher Motorsportbund e.V. have entered into partnerships with the new IDM promoter. This role will be assumed for the first time by MotorPresse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG, which is fielding its in-house Motorrad action Team for the role. “Together with our partners, we want to establish a solid foundation for the IDM. That’s not possible without continuity. We couldn’t have suspended the series for a year and then simply started over.” The promoter team is focused not only on staging the individual events but also on the spectators. They’re really stepping on the gas, especially when it comes to marketing. The motorcycle brands and the DMSB have pledged their full support.

Six manufacturers compete in the top series of German motorcycle road racing: BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, and Yamaha. Regardless of when contracts are signed, the IDM has long been up and running behind the scenes. The first teams have firmly established themselves, and in all classes there are riders of renown are represented in all classes. The IDM lives up to its name: it remains an international series.

Many classes under one roof

Gefahren wird in den offiziellen Prädikatsklassen IDM Superbike 1000, IDM Supersport 600, IDM Supersport 300 und IDM Sidecar. Dazu kommt eine Klasse Superstock 600, die für Fahrer mit B-Lizenz geöffnet ist und den Status eines Cups hat. Umrahmt wird das Programm vom Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Cup, dem markenoffenen Twin-Cup und endlich kommen die Fans auch in den Genuss des neu aufgestellten BMW Boxer-Cup 2.0, der vor einem Jahr erstmals präsentiert wurde. Die Nachwuchsserie ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM hat einen Gastauftritt angemeldet.
