This year is supposed to be the year. Team manager Jens Holzhauer won the Superbike championship with Martin Bauer and Karl Muggeridge. With the Czech rider Jan Halbich, the team finished sixth in each of the past two years. Holzhauer is counting on the 24-year-old from the Czech capital, Prague, but in 2017, Halbich struggled with inconsistent form, which prevented a better result. It wasn’t until he broke through at the Lausitzring that everything started to click.

Halbich is in good shape

Things have to stay this way if there’s to be a future. And right now, Halbich is really in better form than ever before. Things really heated up during a three-day test in Valencia, Spain. Halbich was in top form and posted lap times that would have propelled him to the top of the Moto2 World Championship. The Holzhauer Honda is now equipped with the new kit electronics. “Difficult to set up, but with significantly better functions,” Holzhauer says succinctly. On the last day, Halbich went down and wrecked his bike. A foreign object on the track caused him to crash. According to Jens Holzhauer, this was clearly evident in the data recording.
