SBK: Görbe, a repeat offender, as expected

Soma Görbe from Hungary is set to make a return. The 20-year-old BMW rider from the BCI-MW Racing Team will be entering his second Superbike season in 2026. He’s sending a clear message to the EURO MOTO title favorites.

When ten riders try to enter the first corner at the same time, things get pretty tight. But in 2026, a handful of riders have what it takes to secure a podium finish at the end of the race. Soma Görbe isn’t dreaming of that, even though he won the Pro Superstock 1000 Cup in 2024 with seven wins and two second-place finishes. But now, in Germany’s top motorcycle racing class, the world looks different.
After his debut season, in which he finished 14th overall, the 20-year-old nevertheless speaks with conviction: “I believe we can have a strong season. My goal is to finish in the top five.”

In his rookie season, he finished in 8th place three times on the BMW M 1000 RR. At the same time, he incurred significant penalties that set him back in the overall standings. In the grand finale at Hockenheim, Görbe had to start from the very back of the grid in both Superbike races because he had exceeded the engine limit. When he attempted to use a used engine, the technical commissioners discovered a broken seal on the engine. Görbe was stripped of the points he had earned in Schleiz and Most—a total of 24 points. That definitely won’t happen a second time.
