The Apreco team will certainly never forget this Easter. With two wildcards in the bag and a victory at the International Dutch Championship (IDC) in Assen, the Dutch team headed into the weekend on a high note.

EURO MOTO Supersport rider Dirk Geiger received an early Easter treat last week. He’s set to earn the first Supersport wildcard of his career. The 23-year-old newcomer to Yamaha Apreco will make his debut at the World Superbike Championship in Assen in two weeks. His teammate, Twan Smits, will compete in the Superbike class.

Yesterday, Geiger gave a quick taste of his skills in the IDC during practice runs in the neighboring country. Geiger and his teammate and friend Lennox Lehmann made for another thrilling race. Because they arrived late at the start, they had to start from the pit lane behind the rest of the field. By the third lap, Geiger had already taken the lead and went on to win the race by a margin of over 17 seconds.

Lehmann had already pulled into the pit lane after the first lap. “We had a minor issue. A red light was flashing on the dashboard. I played it safe to avoid causing a bigger problem.”
The 20-year-old will be racing for Team Motobox Kremer in two weeks at the EWC season opener, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Dresden native will be reunited there with an old acquaintance from the paddock. “My teammate is Maximilian Kofler. He was brought back from Superbike retirement very quickly.”
