Kofler is known for his lightning-fast starts, while Geiger is known for his tenacity. In Oschersleben, he won the first race even though he had to start from the very back of the grid on his Honda. Even defending champion Kofler, riding a Yamaha, was quite impressed. But it’s not just these two for whom victory or defeat is at stake. Kofler’s teammate Marvin Siebdrath has secured third place on the front row of the grid. The Saxon says: “In Most, I was declared the winner retroactively due to Dirk’s disqualification, but I haven’t actually stood on the top step of the podium yet.” The 21-year-old wants to achieve that on his own merits. His prospects in the Netherlands are excellent.

However, the three Ducati riders—Daniel Blin, Marcel Brenner, and Luca de Vleeschauwer—as well as, in a complete surprise, Triumph rider Filip Feigl, also made their mark with razor-thin margins between them. The latter even sent his own team boss into a state of joyful excitement. Feigl has received a new motorcycle, and the latest version of the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS races like lightning. “The chassis is more comfortable to ride, especially when you want to go really fast,” reports the Czech rider. And team boss Andreas Köder hints: “In the race, Filip is usually even faster than in practice.”

Starting from eighth on the grid, Lennox Lehmann will take to the track on the Apreco Yamaha. This places the Dresden native in the middle of the third row. He trails Feigl by 0.784 seconds. Štepán Zuda is way off the pace in P16. The current fifth-place rider in the championship has never raced at the TT Circuit before and is struggling as a result, as he’s having trouble with the Yamaha’s setup. His team boss, Thomas Eder, crashed yesterday during the second free practice session when the engine seized up, landing hard on his back. The Bavarian is showing grit: “No whining.”
