IDM SSP: Geiger mit Abstand unschlagbar in Schleiz

During the second race weekend of the IDM Supersport Schleiz, one rider in particular stood out: Dirk Geiger (MCA Racing). The 21-year-old Honda rider left all his competitors in the dust this weekend and secured a commanding one-two finish. With this victory, Geiger extended his lead in the championship to 84 points. “It was a perfect weekend for us; it couldn’t have gone better,” said the beaming winner at the podium ceremony.

Behind Geiger, the action was intense: Daniel Blin (AF Racing) took second place once again and defended his position in the overall standings. The Polish rider felt the physical strain, especially in the final third of the race. “I had massive problems with my arms; I was running out of strength,” Blin admitted. Nevertheless, he held off the pressure from Melvin van der Voort (Track and Trace Wixx Racing), who secured his first IDM podium of the year with a strong performance. “Daniel’s pace today was very high; I tried to stay with him, but my tires gave out at the end. Still, we’re very happy with third place,” said Van der Voort.

An exciting battle unfolded in the midfield: Luca de Vleeschauwer (Track and Trace Wixx Racing) engaged in fierce duels with Julius Caesar Rörig (MCA Racing), Stephan Zuda (Eder Racing), and his pursuers Marvin Siebdrath (Yamalube Motorsport Kofler) and Lennox Lehmann (Apreco Ten Kate Yamaha Racing). Zuda, in particular, caused a stir with a series of daring overtaking maneuvers and put pressure on Marcel Brenner (MotoLife) in fourth place. But on lap twelve, the Swiss rider tried to outmaneuver Zuda, miscalculated, and lost momentum and time, dropping him back to eighth place.

Literally the last meter of the race decided fourth and fifth place: De Vleeschauwer stayed close behind Zuda for the final three laps, finally took advantage of the slipstream on the home stretch, and claimed fourth place in a photo finish by a razor-thin margin of 0.033 seconds. Stephan Zuda had to settle for fifth place.

Marvin Siebdrath also put in a strong performance, edging out Lennox Lehmann to finish sixth. After finishing third and sixth, Siebdrath was satisfied with the weekend. Lehmann followed closely behind in seventh place, while Marcel Brenner took eighth. Andreas Kofler, despite being under the weather, secured important championship points with a ninth-place finish. Dylan Czarkowski (SWPN) rounded out the top 10 with a tenth-place finish on Sunday.

The race ended tragically for Julius Caesar Rörig. The 18-year-old, who had held onto fifth place for a long time, crashed on the final lap behind the Buchhübel due to a highside. He received medical attention and was taken to the hospital.
