The new Bagger Racing European Cup is set to make its European debut—as part of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) in Oschersleben. This American trend has made its way to our continent and will make its debut at the MotorsportArena from May 9–11, 2025. The entertainment value is high and is sure to add even more excitement to the already eagerly anticipated IDM season opener.

They aren’t actually built for racing, but who cares when Harley-Davidson’s Street Glide, Road King, and Ultra go head-to-head with the BMW R18, Honda Gold Wing, and many others? Quite the opposite. These truly massive motorcycles are just getting warmed up. Oschersleben marks the start of the European series, which is held across five countries as part of prestigious events.

The show is led by Rubén Xaus. The Spaniard is calling the shots and, as a former World Superbike rider, knows the sport inside out. He was at the peak of his career around the turn of the millennium. In 1998, he competed in the German Pro Superbike Series as part of the Bavarian Alpha Technik team and finished sixth overall. Xaus is now 47 years old, but that didn’t stop him from traveling to the U.S. last year and winning the American edition of the Bagger Cup. Completely thrilled by this two-wheeled spectacle, Xaus heads the organization of the European series, which is supported by the Spanish Federation and operates under the auspices of FIM Europe.

The Bagger Racing European Cup will hold two races at each event, one on Saturday and another on Sunday. In addition to the opening round in Germany, Italy, Croatia, Portugal, and Spain have been confirmed as host venues. “For us, the IDM will provide a completely new spectacle that also attracts a completely different audience,” series manager Normann Broy is firmly convinced. “There has never been a show like this at the IDM before, and honestly, I’m delighted that it’s taking place right here with us. This allows us to offer spectators even more variety and show that there’s really something going on here.”
