For the past three years, Senna van den Hoven (Molenaar Racing) has been a fixture in the Supersport class of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM). Following this weekend’s races in Most, the 21-year-old plans to explore new opportunities.

That’s why he’s heading to Oschersleben next weekend for some testing. There, he plans to try out a more powerful motorcycle than the Kawasaki Ninja 400. “For me, this year will definitely be my last in Supersport . I want to take the next step up to a higher class,” said van den Hoven, who will complete his apprenticeship as a carpenter in a few months.

The next step for the Kawasaki rider is to move up to the Supersport. He plans to complete his first test rides on an Aprilia RS 660. “The bike is perfect for getting a feel for the extra power and getting used to it,” he adds. This is a first for him, as the Dutchman from Achterveld has never ridden a more powerful motorcycle than the Kawasaki Ninja 400. “That makes me all the more excited to see how I handle it,” he comments. He will gain his first experience on the Aprilia as a guest rider in the Belgian Twin Cup.

For now, however, his focus remains on the IDM SSP 300. At Most, Senna van den Hoven plans to do everything he can to score as many points as possible and improve—or at least maintain—his position in the overall standings. He is currently in fourth place.
