The German team GYTR Eder Racing and the Dutch team SWPN are becoming official Yamaha IDM teams. Thomas Gradinger is moving up to Germany’s top motorcycle racing class and will now be riding the Superbike R1.
Yamaha has reorganized its racing activities and is revising its strategy for supported teams for 2024 and 2025. “I’ve been involved in motorsports for nearly 15 years, but I can honestly say that this past winter was one of the most challenging and exciting,” says Wim Vermeulen, Marketing Manager at Yamaha Motor Germany. And he is convinced “that we have one of the most competitive and promising lineups of riders for the coming years.”
Team SWPN has been a Yamaha partner since 2015 and already has extensive experience racing the R1 and R6. This year, they will once again compete with Rob Hartog in the IDM Superbike class and 22-year-old Belgian rookie Sasha de Vits in the IDM Supersport class. This has been officially confirmed since March.
The Austrian-Bavarian duo of Thomas Gradinger and team manager Thomas Eder—who is racing again himself on a Yamaha Supersport—has only just been confirmed. So everything is business as usual at Team GYTR Eder Racing. Except for one thing: Thomas Gradinger is moving up to the Superbike class.
Both teams will represent Yamaha as official IDM teams, supported by Yamaha Motor Germany (Eder Racing) and Yamaha Motor BeNeLux (Team SWPN).
