For the eldest of the two Beinlich brothers from Pößneck, Thuringia, a future in the IDM Supersport series is assured. Twenty-eight-year-old Christoph is switching brands. The former Yamaha rider has switched to Triumph and will benefit from the manufacturer’s customer racing program.
Despite a disastrous season marred by several engine failures, Christoph Beinlich finished eighth overall in the IDM Supersport standings at the end of last year. But the rollercoaster ride of his results had taken its toll on his nerves. There was a time when the Pößneck native would have loved to throw in the towel. His riding was in top form, but technical issues held him back. But Beinlich without racing? As long as there’s a way, that won’t happen.
“After the season finale at Hockenheim, we had an internal team discussion about how we could continue to be successful in the IDM Supersport series in the future,” says the rider from the family-run Beinlich Racing Team. “At Hockenheim, I battled with Luca Göttlicher for a top-10 finish and was able to get a good look at the Street Triple RS from Triumph Emsland. After that, we started discussing a switch to a different brand.”
The official Triumph Germany Supersport Racing Team signed veteran rider Kevin Wahr and 16-year-old Luca Göttlicher for the 2024 season some time ago. Beinlich has jumped on the brand’s latest initiative—the Triumph Supersport program. When he heard about it, he seized the opportunity right away and got in touch with Triumph Emsland.”
And just a few days later, Beinlich paid a visit to Triumph team owner Denis Hertrampf. He was deeply impressed by what the head of Hertrampf-Racing GmbH showed and told him. “It’s amazing how professionally and well-organized his company is implementing the project.”
Hertrampf oversees the customer racing program along with two other employees. “Our roles and responsibilities are clearly defined,” explains the dynamic entrepreneur. “In the Race Department at Triumph Emsland, my role is to provide behind-the-scenes support to the racing teams and drivers, as well as to handle onboarding and consulting for our specialty parts and race conversions. Everything else is handled by my team in the motorsports department.”
Beinlich had a Triumph Street Triple RS race bike prepared and has since picked it up in Emsbüren. “Denis Hertrampf took a lot of time for me, and we discussed a few more adjustments for the 2024 IDM season. Once I got home, we took a close look at the new bike as a team. It completely won us over. Now I’m looking forward to the first test rides and can hardly wait for the season to start!”
