IDM SSP: Troy Beinlich's Goal Is to Finish the Race

The Schleizer Dreieck is his home track, and that’s where he wants to shine. But that’s not going to happen this year. Troy Beinlich is just glad to be getting by.

The multiple fractures to his scapula, which he sustained during pit bike training in the spring, threw Troy Beinlich off track. He had no preseason preparation following his promotion to the IDM Supersport class, and the first few races took place without him. It wasn’t until the race at Most that the Thuringian from Pößneck made his debut on a Yamaha that wasn’t yet fully set up. That was all he could manage.

Beinlich is in Schleiz now, but he’s struggling. “I’m training, but I’m not quite ready to really push myself after the injury. I have no strength in my left arm, and on the right side, my forearm gets swollen after five or six laps. It’s frustrating that things aren’t going well on my home track of all places. My main goal right now is to finish the entire race.”

Last week, the VITORI-BRT team was in Assen “to get back on the bike before Schleiz. I need to learn how to ride the Yamaha in a relaxed manner first,” says the rookie. It’s up to his older brother Christoph to defend the home team’s honor in the Supersport class. The 27-year-old is currently tenth in the standings.
