Defending champion Marvin Siebdrath is going through a rough patch right now. Instead of leading the IDM Supersport , the rider from Wildenfels is currently ninth overall. But the 19-year-old is a fighter.

Siebdrath had envisioned his debut with the Yamaha bLU cRU IDM by Kiefer Racing team differently. Instead of winning, he had to settle for a lower position. “A lot of small factors came together that meant we weren’t as competitive as we wanted to be,” explains the Saxon, “and I’m definitely still a bit out of practice with the Yamaha. It handles quite differently from last year’s Kawasaki—much more so than I had expected.” Siebdrath has struggled with the transition so far, but he remains determined. “I’m not going to whine about it now—that won’t do any good. The only thing I can do right now is rack up kilometers—in other words, ride as much as possible. We’ll see how things turn out at the end of the year. Maybe a miracle will still happen.”

Next week, Siebdrath will be testing with the team in Assen, Netherlands, where a seven-hour race will be held at the TT Circuit. Spending so much time on the bike will give Siebdrath the chance to get even more familiar with the Yamaha. The long-term plan is to Supersport to the IDM Supersport with the Kiefer Team next year. “I want to stay with the team and on the Yamaha, and the Kiefers know that too.”
