Saturday evening, January 14, 2023: The MCA Race Night at the Altendiez Motorcycle Center is entering its tenth round. At the same time, the spotlight is on Julius Caesar Rörig. He is the star of the racing division this evening. The 16-year-old will take his starting position in the 2023 IDM Supersport series on a brand-new Honda. This is more than just a stroke of luck—it’s a milestone that can now be officially celebrated.

The Honda CBR 600 was produced in eight generations from 1986 to 2016, first as a sport tourer and later as a supersport bike. In 2020, the next model in the athletic CBR 600 RR series was released, closely modeled after the larger Fireblade. There was just one problem, and it was a big one: The supersport bike was sold exclusively in Japan, so the 600 wasn’t allowed to launch a global career.

But times have changed. Julius Rörig is kicking things off in Germany this year. And as he says, the motorcycle is also set to hit the market here in 2024. The Honda is expected to arrive in late January and will then be prepared for racing at his father’s company, MCA Racing in Altendiez, including the installation of Wilbers suspension.

Since there is likely to be only one of these bikes, Julius will assume the number 1 driver status in 2023 and compete as a lone rider. He is backed by a partnership with Honda Germany. Rörig is incredibly excited about the new motorcycle. Just recently, he was still testing his previous Yamaha in Valencia to stay in shape, but soon he’ll be able to kill two birds with one stone. All eyes will be on him, and on top of that, his father is an authorized Honda dealer and can market the hoped-for successes on the racetrack in his shop.

Although the junior has only just completed his first year in the IDM, he achieved his best result of the season right from his late debut at Most and finished fifth twice in the highly competitive middleweight class. He had to sit out the first two rounds because the minimum age for participants is 16, and Julius didn’t turn 16 until June. Rörig joined the IDM after two years in the Northern Talent Cup. His career began at age ten in motocross.
