Who will follow in Marvin Siebdrath’s footsteps? The 19-year-old won the 2022 IDM Supersport 300 title, but in 2023 he will not remain in the junior class or with Team Füsport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki, as the Dutch-German team does not compete in the higher classes to which the Saxon rider hopes to advance. Team bosses Rob Vennegoor and Frank Krekeler have therefore been looking around and have signed two young guns—Max Zachmann and Petr Svoboda—who are no strangers to the scene.
Max Zachmann, 20, is heading into his fifth IDM Supersport 300 season. After a two-year break from racing following the ADAC Junior Cup, his return got off to a rocky start. Retirements, injury setbacks—the Kawasaki Ninja 400 rider has been through it all, but he stuck with it nonetheless and has now joined a team that boasts the reigning champion. Zachmann finished the season in 13th place overall.
Petr Svoboda, 20, has already been announced by Füsport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki as Troy Alberto’s teammate in the Supersport 300 World Championship, but the Czech rider will also compete for the “Greens” in the IDM.
Team manager Rob Vennegoor says: “With Petr and Max, we have speed and experience. Last year, with Dirk Geiger, we saw that competing in both the IDM and the World Championship can be very successful, so we’ve decided to have Petr race in both series as well. Unfortunately, he’ll miss two IDM races due to World Cup commitments. That’s why we’re still looking for a third rider so that Max isn’t on his own when Petr can’t participate in the IDM events. Negotiations are already underway.”
