Two years ago, Dominik Vincon made his final appearance in the IDM Superbike 1000. At the time, he was filling in for the injured Jan Bühn at Zolder in Belgium. Vincon finished third, but as a guest rider, he did not earn any points. In 2021, the BMW rider from Knittlingen will be competing several times for Team LRP Poland.

Behind LRP Poland are Bartlomiej Lewandowski from Warsaw, Kamil Krzemien from Dolna, Poland, and Dominik Vincon from Baden-Württemberg. Krzemien will compete in all IDM races in the premier class. Team boss Lewandowski is also a permanent member of the team, though his appearances are expected to be limited to five or six events. Vincon will fill in as a guest rider for the rest. “I’ll definitely be on the starting grid at the Sachsenring, in Schleiz, and at Hockenheim,” says the 29-year-old, who will serve as the team’s riding coach at all other events.

From March 19 to 21, the Swabian rider and his teammates tested the BMW S 1000 RR—the machine that Team LRP Poland will be using in the World Endurance Championship—on the Grand Prix circuit in Valencia. On the first of the three test days, the bikes remained idle due to a heavy rainstorm that had raged into the night. Afterward, it was mainly 21-year-old Krzemien and Vincon who battled it out for the best lap times. “With the endurance bike, however, it wasn’t primarily about a fast lap,” reports Vincon, “we focused much more on setting up the bike for the upcoming 24-hour race at Le Mans. And we used the last day extensively to rack up a lot of riding time on the race bikes.”

Unlike in the Endurance World Championship, LRP Poland will be competing in the IDM Superbike 1000 class with the new BMW M 1000 RR. The first bike was actually supposed to make its debut in Valencia, but it was delivered exactly one day before the truck was set to leave, and there wasn’t enough time to get it ready for the race.

Vincon says: “We’ve done well overall with the S 1000 RR. But I’m still super excited that we’ll be using the new ‘M’ for the sprint races in the IDM and that I’ll get to ride it myself at three events.”
