At the IDM finale in Hockenheim at the end of September, Supersport Rick Dunnik lost the 16 points he earned for his third-place finish due to a violation of the championship’s technical regulations. After the final race of the season, the technical commissioners discovered an unauthorized brake pressure sensor on his Yamaha. This sensor, mounted on the rear brake, was noticed during the standard post-race inspection in the Parc Fermé immediately after the race, not as a result of a protest by a competitor.
Following the report from the technical commissioners, the race commissioners removed Dunnik from the results. This would make Lennox Lehmann the champion in the IDM junior class. However, Rick Dunnik and his father Harm, as team manager, appealed the decision. The decision now rests with the DMSB Sports Court in Frankfurt am Main.
Another decision is pending there. It will affect the title race in the IDM Superstock 600 class. A missing sticker for the Pirelli standard tires was also discovered on Jan-Ole Jähnig’s motorcycle at Hockenheim immediately after the first race during the weigh-in. As a result, Jähnig, who had won the race, was disqualified following the decision by the race stewards. This benefited Paul Fröde, who was subsequently crowned champion of the IDM Superstock 600. However, Jähnig also appealed the decision.
The dates for the hearings before the DMSB Sports Court have not yet been set.
