The 2020 season finale for the IDM solo classes took place last weekend at Hockenheim. The sidecar champions will be crowned on October 3–4, 2020, at the MotorsportArena in Oschersleben. In the Magdeburger Börde region, sponsor Bonovo action is hosting a sidecar festival with an exciting two-wheeled bonus event on the first weekend of October. Big names will be lining up one after another—from eight-time world champion Tim Reeves to former MotoGP star Jonas Folger.

In the IDM Sidecar 600 class, Markus Schlosser and Marcel Fries head into the finale as leaders with 108 points. The Swiss pair are followed by the Dutch duo Bennie Streuer and Ilse des Haas with 87 points. Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt are in third place with 72 points. World champion and defending titleholder Tim Reeves is only sixth. The Briton was retroactively disqualified at Hockenheim due to technical irregularities with the sidecar and had the points for his apparent victory revoked.

In the 1000cc class, Mike Roscher from Saxony and his co-driver Anna Burkard from Switzerland remain undefeated so far. They have the maximum 125 points to their credit. Helmut Lingen and Michael Prudlik are in second place with 92 points. Jord Klok and Carmen Laudy are in third place. Two IDM races will be held in Oschersleben.

Festival founder Jürgen Röder is firmly in control when it comes to sidecar racing. The businessman spares no expense on his hobby and invests in the teams of Tim Reeves/Kevin Rousseau, Bennie Streuer/Ilse de Haas, and Josef Sattler/Luca Schmidt. He also supports IDM Superbike riders Jonas Folger, Marc Moser, and Maximilian Weihe.

When the IDM titles in the Sidecar 600 and 1000 classes are decided in Oschersleben, a full-day program is on the schedule. In addition to the two IDM races, two rounds of the Sidecar Trophy are scheduled, along with a Sidecar Original Show and a spectacular Superbike invitational race. There will also be a Mini World Championship to replace the top-level events canceled due to COVID-19. Large trophies and prize money are up for grabs at the Sidecar Super Prix.

Peter Schröder and Denise Kartheininger are back. The team will take to the track in the sidecar that Andres Nussbaum and Michael Hirschi rode to victory in last year’s IDM Sidecar class up to 1000 cc. André Kretzer, the 2013 German champion, will once again team up with Björn Bosch for the event, reviving the LCR Suzuki sidecar from his early IDM days.

Among those who have confirmed their participation in the Superbike invitational race are Yamaha riders Jonas Folger and Marc Moser from Team Bonovo Racing by MGM. Suzuki rider Marco Fetz will switch to a Wilbers BMW following the conclusion of the official IDM season. Harald Kitsch, Florian Alt, and Thomas Hainthaler have also registered. Approximately 20 participants are expected to be on the starting grid.
