Eight-time world champion Tim Reeves and his passenger Kevin Rousseau have given up on defending their title. “After failing to score any points at all at the season opener in Assen, I’m not even thinking about it anymore,” says the Brit. But what he does want is to win the race at the Hockenheimring and also both races this coming weekend at the Sidecar Festival in Oschersleben. Since the sidecars were absent from the IDM round at the Sachsenring, the finale will take place on October 3–4, 2020, at the MotorsportArena in the Magdeburger Börde.
The Swiss duo of Markus Schlosser and Marcel Fries currently lead the standings in the 600cc class with 95 points, ahead of Bennie Streuer and Ilse de Haas (67) and Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt (56). Reeves is in fourth place with 45 points.
Reeves, who races for Team Bonovo action by MGM Racing, was the fastest driver in the first qualifying session. Schlosser, who has won three of the four races held so far, finished second, 0.089 seconds behind. Pekka Päiverinta and his passenger Emanuelle Clement posted the third-fastest time. Reeves believes the Finn will also be very strong in the race. Sattler and Streuer follow in the next spots, representing additional teams from the Bonovo racing stable.
In the class up to 1000 cc, once again there was no getting past Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard. The German-Swiss duo has won every race so far and was once again in a class of its own during today’s qualifying session at Hockenheim. They left their classmates Franz Kapeller and Markus Billich, as well as Helmut Lingen and Michael Prudlik, far behind.
The final qualifying session will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 12:10 p.m., and the race will start at 6:20 p.m.
