IDM Sidecar: Schlosser and Roscher Score Maximum Points

Better safe than sorry: Markus Schlosser left the competition in the dust in the second race of the IDM Sidecar classes as well. Text: Anke Wieczorek; Photo: Dino Eisele/IDM 2020

First, the bad news: Eight-time world champion Tim Reeves failed to score any points at the IDM Sidecar 600 season opener in Assen. After suffering a mechanical failure in the first race, he arrived late to the starting grid for the second race and then lined up in the wrong position. He subsequently ignored one of the two drive-through penalties.

Just like the day before, the winner was Switzerland’s Markus Schlosser. He now has the maximum number of points and has laid the groundwork for winning the title.

Schlosser had a tough battle with Bennie Streuer for a long time. There were several hard-fought lead changes—until the Dutchman could no longer hold his ground. It was clear to see: the World Championship riders don’t take it easy in the IDM either. According to Streuer, Schlosser went at it hard.
The IDM Sidecar 600 podium remained unchanged from Saturday’s race. Third place went to Josef Sattler with 17-year-old junior Luca Schmidt, who has thus finally proven himself. Thanks to a few laps lapped, the race was full of action.

In the class up to 1000 cc, Mike Roscher once again took the win, this time ahead of Cedric Pierard and Helmut Lingen in third place.
