The Bonovo Action by MGM Racing team has not only signed eight-time Sidecar World Champion Tim Reeves, but has also secured a recipe for success in the IDM Sidecar 600. With a lead of 0.791 minutes over his rivals, the Brit sent a clear message to the competition in the first qualifying session. Nevertheless, Markus Schlosser also put in a strong performance on the TT circuit. He remains hot on his heels.
The Swiss driver is followed by the rest of the Bonovo teams. Bennie Streuer qualified with the third-fastest time. Incidentally, he is close friends with Tim Reeves, who is currently spending an extended period in the Netherlands because he has a personal connection there.
Josef Sattler’s decision to choose 17-year-old Luca Schmidt as his co-driver has so far proven to be a bull’s-eye. With the young talent on board, the Bavarian raced to fourth place on the time sheet, finishing less than half a second behind Streuer.
In the 1000cc class, Mike Roscher got off to the best start. The high-displacement division has changed significantly. Last year’s winners, Andres Nussbaum and Michael Hirschi, have retired, as has John Smits. Peter Schröder has not yet regained his former form following his serious accident. He will still compete in the Cup race as a guest rider alongside Denise Kartheininger. The IDM is currently a step too far for him. On the other hand, there are brand-new teams at the starting line that are keeping the class alive. They come mainly from the Sidecar Trophy.
