Back to the roots. The Beinlich family from Pößneck is taking matters into their own hands again in 2020. Twenty-four-year-old Chris is racing in the IDM Supersport 600 class, and Troy, who is seven years younger, is competing in the junior class, the IDM Supersport 300. The Beinlich Racing Team is picking up where it left off in 2018.
In 2019, both riders were part of larger Kawasaki teams. A Yamaha R6 is now being prepared for Chris, while Troy is returning to his private 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400. Last year, the automotive mechatronics apprentice narrowly missed a podium finish at Oschersleben and Schleiz.
A new deal with Kawasaki Germany did not materialize. Chris’s emails and weekly phone calls came to nothing, according to his father, Knut Beinlich. They had tried everything, but now they had to take matters into their own hands.
Knut Beinlich has already made the first reservations for test runs in Most and Oschersleben. They are scheduled to take place in April. “Since the IDM doesn’t start until May—which is relatively late—we don’t have to make a special trip to Spain for testing,” says Knut Beinlich, pleased with the convenient situation. But one thing is worrying the Thuringian. “Of course, we don’t know today whether the tests will actually take place, or whether the coronavirus will still get in the way by then and everything will be canceled.”
