The two-time race winner from the IDM season opener at the Lausitzring is able to extend his lead as a group of five battles for position behind him. Right in the thick of it are Walid Khan (NL, Kawasaki, NUTEC-RT Racing by SKM-Kawasaki), winner of the first race, as well as the new champion and pole-sitter Angelo Licciardi (BEL, Kawasaki, Benjan-Weber Motos) and Ruben Bijman (NLD, Yamaha, Pearle Gebben), third in the championship. Khan manages to break away from the chasing pack midway through the race. The 19-year-old Dutchman sets off in pursuit of the leader, Rick Dunnik. But Dunnik counters and defends his lead all the way to the finish line.
Behind them, the battle for third place intensifies. In the penultimate lap, Bijman attacks Licciardi, who is riding ahead of him, at the entrance to the cross-section. But the Dutch Yamaha rider crashes and does not finish the final race.
His rival continues unhindered and rounds out his season with another podium finish. Melvin van der Voort (NL, Yamaha, SWPN Junior) narrowly misses out on a podium finish. But the 14-year-old, who already made headlines by securing pole position at Assen, celebrates his best result of the season at the IDM finale.
Behind the Dutch-Belgian contingent, Marvin Siebdrath (Wildenfels, Kawasaki, NUTEC-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki) finishes fifth, just as he did in the first race. The 15-year-old from Saxony once again managed to hold off his teammate Colin Velthuizen (NDL), who finished sixth. This means all three riders from Rob Vennegoor’s team, with Frank Krekeler handling technical duties, finished in the top six. Another very strong team result for the squad, which joined the IDM this year.
