The first titles in Germany’s premier motorcycle road racing series have been decided, but the final champions and podium finishers won’t be determined until after the grand finale of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) at Hockenheim from September 27 to 29, 2019. Fans and riders alike can look forward to high-level competition at the Motodrom in Baden. The decisive races will be held across five IDM classes and an equal number of cups. The grand final weekend of the IDM, organized by Motor Presse Stuttgart, begins on Friday with free practice sessions. Qualifying and the first races will take place on Saturday. And on Sunday, the final races of the 2019 IDM season will be held.
The IDM finale in Hockenheim is a veritable parade of celebrities, ranging from seven-time sidecar world champion Tim Reeves to former GP rider Jürgen Fuchs. Rarely do spectators get as close to the riders as they do during the pit walk through the pit lane. It’s the perfect time for personal photos and autographs.
The IDM finale is a bustling event in every sense of the word. It’s a spectacular festival that offers a truly unforgettable experience.
Even off the track in the paddock, things are in full swing. All the brands competing in the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) are offering test rides on their latest models. BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, and Yamaha are on site with a mix of different applications and engine displacement classes.
At the Hockenheimring, the action is nonstop all weekend long. Honda has Moto2 World Champion Stefan Bradl on board as a special guest. The Bavarian’s career began in the IDM. On race Sunday, Bradl will lead a parade around the track alongside IDM Superbike 1000 rider Alessandro Polita, and all fans are invited to join in.
Yamaha World opens its doors in the centrally located Congress Pavilion, where it will showcase an exhibition featuring various racing machines as well as the new YZF-R1 superbike. The Yamaha Quad Course offers the chance to get around on four wheels, while the grid formation procedure for the IDM Superbike 1000 will be accompanied by demo laps on a YZF-R1. BMW stunt rider Dirk Manderbach will demonstrate what’s possible on two wheels in the paddock and encourage visitors to join in with the wheelie simulator.
