Marc Buchner (Buchner Motorsport) won Saturday’s race in the IDM Supersport class. The Yamaha rider took the win ahead of his Yamaha teammates Sander Kroeze (MGM Racing Performance) and Max Enderlein (Freudenberg WorldSSP Academy). Third place was enough for the Saxon to clinch the overall championship title. His mission to defend his title was a success. Enderlein can breathe a sigh of relief. A year ago, he broke his collarbone during free practice at Assen when the title was also within reach, and he had to hold his breath until the finale at Hockenheim.

The race started late. The first attempt was cut short during the formation lap when Daniel Rubin’s alternator cover came loose and oil began to leak. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the cleanup took what felt like an eternity, during which it also began to rain. That made the cleanup even more difficult.

When the race got underway that evening, Buchner immediately took the lead, followed by Enderlein, Dominik Rubin (Rubin Racing Team), Kroeze, and Marco Fetz (Däschlein DRC). The rookie was in top form but crashed on the sixth lap. The remaining group of four battled it out within a time gap of 0.7 seconds. The rest of the field had no chance of securing a spot on the podium.

Enderlein regained the lead as he accelerated out of the chicane with more momentum than Buchner. Buchner followed him into the final lap, trailing by 0.094 seconds. That’s when things really heated up. As they crossed the finish line, Buchner was in the lead ahead of Kroeze, Enderlein, and Rubin.

Martin Vugrinec (UNIOR Racing Team), Enderlein’s biggest rival in the championship, finished fifth, eight seconds behind. The Croatian had battled it out for lap after lap with Dutch rider Wayne Tessels (Team SWPN) and Gabriel Noderer (Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing Team).

Something else that stood out: Daniel Rubin, who had littered the track with his motorcycle, was allowed to race but had to start from last place. He ended up finishing eighth!

Joep Overbeeke (Team Apreco) won the DMSB Superstock 600 Cup race ahead of Milan Merckelbagh (NGM Racing Performance) and Paul Fröde (ADAC Sachsen), the only Honda rider in the field. Championship leader Stefan Ströhlein (Neumann Racing) finished sixth on his Yamaha YZF-R6. His lead over Jan Schmidt (Frankfurt Customs Racing Team), who finished fourth, stands at 57 points. After the race, Ströhlein approached race control and filed a complaint alleging that Fröde had passed him under a yellow flag, which is prohibited. The incident was noted and is being investigated. Ströhlein has a witness in Tom Kohnen (DDB Racing) from Belgium.

Goal Achieved: Max Enderlein is the reigning and new champion in the IDM Supersport .
