Max Enderlein (Freudenberg WorldSSP Team) has Supersport his fifth victory of the season in the IDM Supersport series. The Yamaha R6-F rider won the first IDM Supersport in Most, Czech Republic, ahead of his Yamaha teammates Marc Buchner (Buchner Motorsport) and Martin Vugrinec (UNIOR Racing Team). Tom Toparis (Benro Racing), Enderlein’s main rival in the championship battle, finished fourth.

Marc Buchner started the race from pole position. His goal: “To drive consistently. Once I was in second place behind Max Enderlein, I wanted to stay right on his tail as best I could.” Second place marks Buchner’s best result of the season so far. Winner Enderlein had fought his way up from seventh on the grid. “The track flows well, which suits me,” he said with a mischievous smile. “I also posted good times in free practice, and I knew I’d be up there with the leaders.” Saturday’s qualifying sessions had been repeatedly interrupted by rain showers, which at times resulted in an unusual starting grid.

But it was “Spider” Martin Vugrinec who caused the real sensation. Already in the first lap, he had surged from 18th on the grid to fourth place. The Croatian set a pace that left his opponents speechless. On the very last lap, he even overtook Tom Toparis, securing his spot on the podium, which he scrambled onto like a spider.

Things didn’t go well for Toparis. The rider who had finished second in practice led the field after the start, then got stuck in a tight pack with Enderlein and Buchner, and ultimately finished only fourth. Vugrinec is now hot on the Australian’s heels in the championship standings as well. Luca Grünwald (Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex) finished fifth. That means another eleven points for the rider from Waldkraiburg, but the Bavarian is out of contention for the title due to his long injury layoff.

In the DMSB Superstock 600 Cup standings, Yamaha riders Milan Merckelbagh (MGM Racing Performance), Stefan Ströhlein (Neumann Racing), and Tom Kohnen (DDB Racing) finished in the top spots.
