His crash in June during a test sprint race in Most sidelined Bobby “Bobster” Bos (HPC-Power Suzuki). His IDM Superbike 1000 career seemed to be on hold for months after he tore tendons in his thigh and broke his left hand. The doctors estimated a recovery time of twelve weeks. But things turned out differently. Contrary to all expectations, the 20-year-old Dutchman will be back racing on his GSX-R 1000 this coming weekend at the Schleizer Dreieck. His injuries healed much faster than anticipated, and his doctor has given him the green light to return to the IDM field.
Stefan “Steff” Kerschbaumer is also back, this time as a substitute rider for Erwan Nigon at Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing. The Austrian had withdrawn from the IDM after the season opener with the MPB Racing team. Now he’ll be taking over Nigon’s ZX-10 R at the Schleizer Dreieck, as the Frenchman will be competing for the title in the World Endurance Championship that same weekend. Team SRC Kawasaki France, for which the 35-year-old Nigon rides, leads the World Championship standings by five points. The season finale will take place at Suzuka this coming weekend.
