He’s from the Czech Republic, lives just ten kilometers from the race track in Brno, is 16 years old, and has big dreams. David Kubáň’s goal is: “To race in MotoGP or the World Superbike Championship someday. In a major class that’s televised.”

In 2019, the tall Czech rider with the number “56” will be competing in the IDM Supersport 300. From the junior class, Jan-Ole Jähnig and Max Kappler became the first German riders to make the leap to the 300cc World Championship, along with Victor Steeman from the Netherlands. “I think the IDM is great, and it’s also feasible for me in terms of travel.”

As a newcomer to the IDM, David Kubáň is aiming for a top-5 finish. He is the 2018 ADAC Junior Cup Runner-Up and plays a key role in the family team KTM at the starting line. “After three years in the ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM, I know the bike and I like it.”

In his first year in the Cup, Kubáň finished eighth overall; in his second season, he placed fifth. In 2018, he missed out on the title by four points in the final race, after having already secured two wins and taken the lead in the standings. “A mistake on the last lap set me back.” That really bothers him. Nevertheless, he is the only driver from last year’s top 10 list of ADAC Junior Cup drivers who finished every race and scored points.
