It could have turned out so well, but Marc Buchner’s dream of a one-two finish was over as early as the first lap. After a great start, he crashed off the track; although he managed to get his Yamaha back up, he was left scrambling to keep up with the field as it pulled away.

Max Enderlein won the IDM Supersport . With a 57-point lead in the overall standings, he could afford to take it easy now, but he doesn’t want to. “I want to have fun like I did today. Those were great battles with Christian Stange.” Whether Kawasaki rider Stange will also be coming to Assen in two weeks is anyone’s guess. Why didn’t he win the second race at Lausitz despite getting off to a good start? “I was briefly in the lead. That’s when Enderlein messed up. At least, that’s how it looked. Then he countered. Later, when I tried to break out of his slipstream what felt like 20 times and nothing worked, I didn’t take any risks.”

Dennis Lippert, the newcomer to the IDM Supersport , finished third and is now surprised himself by what has happened since the start of the season. “I never would have thought I’d be racing up front.” In the first race, the 22-year-old lost his right knee slider on the fifth lap. “I had to be careful the whole time, and it was pretty uncomfortable with my leg on the ground. I was a little disappointed, because otherwise I could have done better than fifth place.”

Kevin Wahr, who started from the very back of the grid, returned from the first lap in sixth place. After 14 laps, he crossed the finish line in seventh place and remains in fourth place in the IDM standings for now.

Stefan Ströhlein had a spectacular weekend in the Superstock 600 class. The one-two finish went down a treat for the Rothenburg native. Jan Schmidt crashed at the end, but Moritz Jenkner and Marco Fetz joined him on the podium.
