It looks as though the BMW BoxerCup might be coming to life after all. BMW announced the series twice, but interest was sparse due to the concept.

Under the new leadership of Wilbers—the source of the suspension components for the R nineT Racer—the third BoxerCup season is set to begin, and there’s quite a buzz about it. A revamped concept and a new, attractive pricing structure have been announced. The energetic Benny Wilbers has already booked an exclusive test session for 15 interested riders on August 11–12, 2018, at the Lausitzring with the bike converted into a race bike.

Bastien Mackels, the Belgian IDM Superbike rider from Wilbers-BMW, is also on site. He’s preparing for the next IDM round on his S 1000 RR, since it’s taking place right there on the last weekend in August. The Lausitzring has been Wilbers’ German test track for years. Will Mackels manage to beat his longtime IDM rival, Ilya Mikhalchik, under the Brandenburg sun? At the moment, the Ukrainian holds a 17-point lead over Mackels in the overall standings.
