IDM Supersport : Enderlein on Pole, but von Wahr Still Has Something to Say

The starting grid for the two IDM Supersport races has been set. The first race will take place this afternoon. Max Enderlein (Freudenberg Team) secured pole position. With a time of 1:35.394, he was a mere 0.028 seconds faster than Marc Buchner (Buchner Motorsport). Daniel Rubin (Rubin Racing Team) takes third place on the front row . This means three Yamahas are at the very front.
The first and only non-Yamaha bike starts from 10th place. Gabriel Noderer (Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex) is pushing the Kawasaki ZX-6R to the limit. And where is Kevin Wahr, who is racing with a replacement bike? Eleventh place is the result for the rider from Nagold. That’s one position better than in the first qualifying session. Tuner Diego Romero is certain: “He’ll move up; Kevin is a fighter. There’s still room for improvement.”

Everything is going perfectly for Max Enderlein this year. “In 2017, the IDM tracks were still uncharted territory for me, and so was the bike. Now the bike is set up just right for the IDM. But I’m already looking more toward the World Championship. If I want to finish in the top 15 there, I need to be comfortably up front in the IDM,” reveals the 21-year-old from Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Whether a move up is on the cards soon depends heavily on his education. In theory, the economics student will first be doing a longer internship starting in 2019. During this time, he is set to work in sales at the Leipzig race track.
