Two years ago, Sepp Buchner was the championship-maker who led Marvin Fritz to the title—on a small budget but with immense ambition—surpassing the big factory teams. Now, with Kevin Sieder , an absolute newcomer, is now riding the Yamaha R1-M for Buchner’s team, Bikerbox Racing powered by Yamaichi Electronics. Last weekend’s second race in Oschersleben will remain etched in the crew’s memory forever. Sieder scored his first championship point with a 15th-place finish. The Austrian said: “It was a really tough start. In the first practice session, I couldn’t get any feel for the bike at all. So we more or less completely rebuilt the bike on Thursday night.”
In the first race on Saturday, Sieder finished in 16th place. On Sunday, he wanted to do much better. He succeeded right away with a better start. And after 18 laps, he had secured his first IDM point. Team manager Buchner was visibly relieved:
"We were really happy about finishing in 15th place and earning our first championship point. Plus, Kevin was ten seconds faster over the entire race distance than he was at the season opener."
